Who is Jesus Christ? And why did He come to earth and die on a cross?
About 2000 years ago, God's eternal son, Jesus Christ came to earth as a baby, fully God & fully human. He lived a perfect and sinless life, taught the way of salvation and died a death on a cross for sinners. When Jesus died on the Cross He represented all who believe in Him, and took upon Himself the punishment they deserve for their sins. On the third day, He rose from the dead and appeared to His followers and to over 500 eyewitness. He said to His closest disciples "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you". After this, He ascended to the right hand of His Father in Heaven, and sent the Holy Spirit into the world to be with us until He comes back again to judge the world. To those who believe in Him, He will give eternal life and perfect love with Him in heaven, but to those who do not believe there will be condemnation and God's eternal holy anger.
We worship Jesus in gratitude and humility because of what He has done to save us. We love because He first loved us. This love was expressed on the Cross, where the Lord of the universe shed His blood for sinful humans to open the way for the forgiveness of our sins. If anyone desires eternal life through Christ's sacrifice, you can receive forgiveness of your sins by repenting (sincerely turning away from your sins), and placing your trust in Jesus Christ.
